Noli turbare circulos meos
When I received the invite to showcase my sculptural artists books at Purchase College, I felt an obligation to step back from sanitized and digitized forms of storytelling, and decided to take a proactive approach. The proposal suggested a hands-on collaborative printmaking workshop aiming to explore creative aspects of printing. Each participant of Noli turbare circulos meos workshop contributed with a 4x6 inches linocut and was instructed to explore the image possibilities by applying a variety of multicolor and interchangeable overprinting processes. The workshop was a havoc, and the misregistrations generated a lot of joy. The event took place on March 19th, 2025, under supervision of Amanda Thackray, Ian Harkey, and Rob Swainston, simultaneously using three Charles Brand etching presses, and it included following participants: Quinn Bannon, Deliah Bauer, Ivory Biruk, Jackie Arevalo Carillo, Frey Evanchik, Evan Galinski, William Miller Gildehaus, Emma Jolly, Angelina Leonelli, Samuel Lepore, Giulia Mannino, Alejandra Marrero, Kiera McDermoff, Josie Merigliano, Skunk M., Samantha Nirenberg, Lily O'Brien, Victoria Sanchez, and Chris Volpe. Three months later, prints were gathered and transformed into a unique sculptural artists’ book project as promised in the initial proposal. Noli turbare circulos meos is a box-set of 5 accordion folds intended to be displayed as a freeform wall-mount installation. The installation is stackable and adjustable. It can conform to a variety of environments and situations.
