Eleva Machine

No book is perfectly innocent, but this one was framed.

The book form is a temporal medium; pages function as articulated markers of time to be experienced sequentially - one after the other. This book has been stripped off of time and made still, laid spatially bare to be experienced simultaneously as a sculptural object.

Initiated in 2020 as a unique accordion book of 8 heavily painted and deconstructed collage double-sided panels (9 x 12 inches), this project grew to 53 x 12.5 x 8.5 inches in size after construction of a zig-zag frame in 2023.

On one side, images evoke a pulchritudinous accumulation of wheatpasting - a thick, multilayered information leftovers. And in contrast to this act of vandalism, a timeless repose on the other side offers a safe landing from cover to cover.
